2007 Visit
The Egerton Schools’ Partnership was successful in being granted the Reciprocal Visits Grant funded by DIFD and the British Council. This grant helped to fund the Headteacher, Florence Kimani and teacher, Moses Muchiri to visit Egerton Primary School in Knutsford, UK. This visit was crucial in developing and formalising a ‘Partnership Agreement’ to outline the partnership’s work for the future.
This visit was extremely exciting and undoubtedly had a profound and lasting effect upon the school and the local community. Local people were extremely interested in the ‘discovery’ of a school founded by Maurice Egerton, a man who is held in such great esteem in Knutsford. Mrs Kimani and Mr Muchiri visited Lord Egerton’s family home at Tatton Park. They learnt about his life in the UK and the history of the extended Egerton family.
Mrs Kimani and Mr Muchiri had the opportunity to observe teaching and teach themselves. They spent a great deal of time at the school building up strong and lasting relationships with the children and staff. They also had the opportunity to visit other schools in the local area and meet with the Headteachers to learn about the leadership and management aspects of leading a school.
