Spring I - Stunning Starter - Raiders or Traders

Date: 12th Jan 2020 @ 6:11pm

On Friday, we had our Stunning Starter. Firstly, when we entered our classroom after the break we discovered that the carpet turned into North Sea and the tables into longboats. We picked a boat, said goodbye to our countries (Norway, Sweden and Denmark) and sailed towards new land. We reached Anglo-Saxon England.
We watched videos, https://www.bbc.co.uk/teach/class-clips-video/story-of-britain-vikings-animation/zhrygwx trying to find an answer to our question: Why did the Vikings came to England? After researching and debating, we came to conclusion that there were several reasons as to why  Vikings came to England.

The name ‘Viking’ comes from a language called ‘Old Norse’ and means ‘a pirate raid’. People who went off raiding in ships were said to be ‘going Viking’. But not all the Vikings were bloodthirsty warriors. Some came to fight, but others came peacefully, to settle. They were farmers, and kept animals and grew crops. They were skilful at crafting, and made beautiful metalwork and wooden carvings.
